Bombs kill 1, wound 16 in western Afghanistan - @AP

— Afghan authorities say two bomb blasts near the governor's compound in a western province have killed a 12-year-old boy and wounded 16 other civilians.

Farah provincial spokesman Abdur Rahman Zhuwandai says the bombs were attached to motorcycles parked in two different squares near the governor's office.

He says nearly all of those injured in Sunday's explosions were young people between the ages of 8 and 21.

Separately, the NATO military coalition says one of its service members was killed Sunday by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan. The statement did not provide further details.
